Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsNew Kensington needs search help in one particular place: Fifth Avenue, where a 2024 planning award recognized a downtown rebuilt after decades of vacancies, and where many storefronts are new enough that customers cannot find them online yet. The city has 12,163 residents, a median age of 47.8 and a median household income of $47,015, so the audience values clear prices, a working phone number and a door they can recognize from a photo.
SEO for New Kensington businesses therefore begins with the basics people skip on Fifth Avenue: a correct address, hours and photos in Google Maps, then a landing page for each service through RankGuarantee™. A written six-month plan sets the order, a dedicated account manager walks you through the monthly Search Console report, and the service has no setup fee and no contract.

Ranked 92 among 152 Pennsylvania places
Sources: Census ACS 2018-2022, 2023 population estimates, County Business Patterns 2022. Each bar compares New Kensington with the other 152 Pennsylvania places in this guide only. Formula on the methodology page; data refreshed October 2026.
What a plan emphasizes
Fifth Avenue's new tenants
Check every Fifth Avenue business for a correct pin, current hours and a photo of the entrance. With the Olde Towne Overhaul alone counting 38 retail units and 27 businesses, one wrong pin sends customers to a vacant door.
New Kensington versus Kensington
Audit directory listings along Fifth Avenue and beyond for wrong city names, since the city was renamed New Kensington to avoid confusion with a Philadelphia neighborhood. A mislabeled listing loses calls from people who trust the map.
22.9% are 65 or older
Put the phone number and hours at the top of each service page, use plain headlines and avoid jargon. With 22.9% of residents 65 or older, a visible number is the quickest path to a call.
Median rent is $693
In a city where median rent is $693, trades and repair shops can explain what a job covers and how a first visit works, since searchers compare cost early. Pages that show scope persuade better than pages that only claim low prices.
Fridays on Fifth
A 2025 local report describes Fridays on Fifth drawing thousands each month, so restaurants and shops on Fifth Avenue can add event-day hours to their profiles and a short page that tells visitors where to park.
Campus closes after spring 2027
Penn State trustees voted in May 2025 to close Penn State New Kensington after the spring 2027 semester, so shops and eateries that lean on student traffic should build pages for residents and office workers while students are still around.
Many Fifth Avenue businesses are new or recently reopened, so the plan fixes what customers see first: the map pin, the hours and a photo of the door, before it chases broad terms.
Who searches and how
The market is value-minded. Median household income is $47,015 against $62,642 for the typical Pennsylvania city in our set, median rent is $693 against $1,048, median home value is $116,300 against $199,100 and 19.4% of residents live below the poverty line (12% typical). Searchers compare cost early, so pages that show what a service includes and how to book carry more weight than slogans.
Age is a defining trait: median age is 47.8 against 38.9, and 22.9% of residents are 65 or older (17.9% typical). Only 21.7% of adults hold a bachelor's degree (34.7% typical), and only 9.4% of workers work from home (10.5% typical). Older customers like a phone number near the top of a page and a plain headline, and they check reviews and storefront photos before visiting, mostly on a phone during breaks and in the evening.
Distances are short. Only 15.2% of workers commute 45 minutes or more (13.4% typical), so most customers live within minutes of Fifth Avenue, and renters (40% of households, 44.6% typical) shop close to home. A listing that names the exact street and the nearest corner beats one that claims to serve every neighbor between here and Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is about 15 miles away, and customers who would travel that far for a purchase are rare for everyday services such as repairs, haircuts and takeout, so the closest competitor on the map is often a few blocks away.
Westmoreland County lists 160 beauty salons (2.84 times the typical county), 173 residential remodelers (1.63 times, up 25.4%), 182 landscaping services (1.59 times) and 138 general automotive repair shops (1.52 times). Search engine optimization in New Kensington helps when each of those trades has a page for one named street and one named job; the county tallies are crowding signals, not the city's own counts.
Streets and neighborhoods
People here navigate by avenue number, neighborhood and the buildings that anchor each one. Using those names in page text and listings is the fastest way to be recognized on Fifth Avenue and beyond.
| Area name | What searchers mean by it |
|---|---|
| Fifth Avenue | The comeback street, honored with a 2024 planning award, so businesses should give the block, the cross street and a photo of the door. |
| Corridor of Innovation | The city's downtown plan, a useful phrase for pages about workspace, training and small-business services. |
| Olde Towne Overhaul | Buildings renovated since late 2017 hold 38 retail units, so many tenants are new and should check that listings reflect them. |
| The Digital Foundry | A training center downtown, a landmark for workforce and technology services. |
| Parnassus | Annexed in 1939 and still named by locals, so service-area text should list it alongside Mount Vernon and Valley Heights. |
| Aluminum City Terrace | The 1941 cooperative housing site draws design-minded visitors and neighbors who search for repairs and home services. |
| Central City Plaza | The Eighth Street plaza sits across from the health network's outpatient center, so nearby pharmacies and cafes should name both. |
| Ninth Street | Recently funded for $1 million in infrastructure upgrades, so businesses there should watch for construction and update hours and parking notes. |
| Allegheny River | Avenues run parallel to the river, so describing a location as a block from it helps newcomers orient themselves. |
These labels come from municipal, county and regional publications. They are informal, and people use whichever name they grew up with.
Mills, clinics and counters
Manufacturing remains the biggest group of working residents with 847 people (16%), just ahead of health care and social assistance with 814 (15.4%), retail trade with 709 (13.4%), accommodation and food services with 497 (9.4%), other services with 439 (8.3%) and administrative and support services with 380 (7.2%). That is a trades-and-service mix in which phone calls and walk-ins are the normal way to start, so a profile with a call button and a map pin matters more than a long website.
The city's identity came from aluminum. The Pittsburgh Reduction Company, later Alcoa, was the first large company here, an Alcoa research lab opened in 1930, and the Aluminum City Terrace housing built in 1941 was designed by Gropius and Breuer. The New Kensington Advanced Manufacturing Park, a 70-acre RIDC and county project, aims to revive some of that manufacturing tradition, so industrial suppliers and trades have a reason to build pages now.
Health care has changed shape. Citizens General Hospital closed in 2000, and Allegheny Health Network now runs an outpatient center at 1B Kensington Square on Eighth Street, while UPMC St. Margaret has a family health center on Fifth Avenue. Pharmacies and medical-supply shops can use those buildings as landmarks. Westmoreland County Community College opened a downtown campus in 2008, and the Digital Foundry trains workers at the other end of the street, which keeps weekday foot traffic on Fifth Avenue from ending at five. Cafes, copy shops and lunch counters near either end of the corridor can list weekday and evening hours separately, because class schedules and shift changes do not match.
Employment profile

Who else is fighting for the click
The Census reports business counts by county and not by town, so each row below covers all of Westmoreland County, with New Kensington one part of it. The last column is the county's businesses per resident divided by the same rate for a typical U.S. county.

What it costs
You pay month by month, with no setup fee and no contract to unwind. Before any pages go up, we research keywords, audit your site and put a six-month plan on paper. Our CEO will help you choose, so schedule a call.
Before you sign anything
We invoice monthly. RankGuarantee™ costs $495, and the Organic Growth tiers cost $1,495 (Silver), $2,495 (Gold) and $3,495 (Platinum). Nothing is charged for setup, no contract applies, and a managed custom website comes inside Gold and Platinum. The plan cards on this page spell out what each tier covers; the pricing page adds more detail.
That depends on how much is already on the map for Fifth Avenue. A new storefront with a correct profile, photos and a few reviews can show up for nearby searches within weeks, while pages for a specific service take longer to earn impressions. Each monthly report names what moved and what did not.
Compare the pin with the real entrance, correct the street number and ZIP, and add a photo of the front. Fifth Avenue has had many vacancies and reopenings, so old listings linger, and a customer who finds an empty storefront rarely tries again.
For places you truly serve, yes. Lower Burrell is about 2 miles away, Plum about 5 and Murrysville about 10, so each can have a page with an honest drive time. Customers there approach Fifth Avenue from different directions, which is worth saying.
Sometimes, including on Fifth Avenue listings. The city carries New in its name to avoid mixups with Philadelphia's Kensington, and a few directories drop the word. Check each listing for the full name and the right ZIP, and ask for corrections where it is wrong.
For now, yes, briefly. Trustees voted to close the campus after spring 2027, so keep a short student page with hours and a map link, and spend more effort on pages for residents, workers and visitors to Fifth Avenue, who will remain.
Say what the job includes, how long it takes and how to book. With a median rent of $693, customers who count every dollar notice vagueness, so a page that lists steps and a phone number reads as more honest than a page that repeats the word affordable.
Only if your business has a real tie to them, such as training, coworking or technology services. A single sentence that names the Digital Foundry as a nearby landmark helps visitors place you, but copying the plan's slogans onto every page adds nothing.
That is up to the assistant, and nobody can promise a mention. You can make your details easy to repeat by using the same address, hours and one-line description on your site, profile and directories, and by naming Central City Plaza once in plain words.
